Have a TDS meter on it's way to me from Amazon.
I understand how it works. What I'm failing to grasp is what the reading means to me as a pond owner.
Basically, all I can do is add lime if my water doesn't have enough TDS - Correct?
I bought the meter primarily because it reads PH. It will also read TDS, but I'm not sure it's data I can use.

Digital PH & TDS meters plus API master kit are in hand. I look forward to seeing an accurate overall picture of my water chemistry. Of particular interest is ammonia, KH and GH. If ammonia is high should I decrease the amount of feed, increase aeration, reduce biomass or a little of all three? (It depends...right?)
