Best spot on my BOW is the dock area. It has everything: Some weeds, gravel area that BG use for beds, shade, submerged brush, feeder. LMB and BG love it!
Here's my question: What if I put a white tarp of some sort over the BG beds? Would it prolong the spawn due to better water temp? Hurt the spawn due to lack of sunlight? Anybody know?

If the BG are spawning successfully I would not intervene unless I had a specific known reason. My guess is it would scare the males off the bed. Light is an integral part of spawning process but have no idea if your idea would cause light problems. I have not seen LMB or BG select to spawn under overhead cover. Try an experiment if so inclined and cover half of one spawning bed location with the tarp and see results. Would be interesting to see the outcome.

mine spawn under overhead cover, sort of. I have a few bushes along the shoreline that they always seem to build nests under, always shaded
