Hello.

What did you catch for supper.

Nice fish for a meal! I need to fillet some BG that my grandkids catch so they can associate fishing with food. That's not the only reason to fish, but it's good for them to understand where food actually comes from.

We had fish supper a couple times last week. Both times three BG and one small CC.

Good eating.

Caught and cooked up 6 bg on Sat. Five were all that was needed because we had one left when we were done eating. Boy oh boy! CNBG are great eating. I prefer to scale them instead of fillet's when eating bg. But these could have been fillet, they were big enough.

Pics of the 6 you harvested would help others id what to take out and eat ? I like the scaled BG method also.

The scaled method has less waste. Scale, gut, head off, and ready to bake or pan fry. BG fillets, even of 9" BG, are very small.

I also prefer to skin and "steak" CC meat, cutting into horseshoe shaped pieces, as I feel filleting them has too much waste.

I hate wasting food.
