Hi I M new here and to having a pond. I built a small pond about 60 by 40 in a bottom that is spring fed (will expand it this fall to 40 by 100). I stocked it with 10 cat fish 5 bass 20 blue gill and 4 pounds of minnows 2 different types. I feed pellets and notice that the minnows eat them and a few of them and other fish do also but only about 1/4 cup a day. I notice a lot of info about what to stock and how many but nothing on when to start fishing it. do I wait a year or 2 what is the rule.

Hey, 1919. You may be predator heavy. Generally, the rule is at least ten forage fish for every one predator. 15 catfish & bass to 20 bluegill, even with 4 pounds of minnows, is likely out of balance.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
