Hey everyone,
Looking for idea of plants to add to my 1 acre pond here in FL that wont take over the pond to bad. The most important part where can I get them!?!? I like the looks of american pond weed but when you look in google to buy it all you see is stuff to kill it lol. So hope to get some help! would love to hear stories of your experience planting in ponds and pictures are helpful too!

This may go without saying, but I find that transplanting plants from near your location is a good way to help ensure success. Often, when you order plants you are getting them from far away and they may not be adapted for your area. I planted over $100 worth of pants (that should have been good for my zone) last year and they took off and looked very good, but they have not regrown this year. I don't know why, maybe it's to early to give up, maybe the 6 inch ice did them in or I did not put enough dirt around them...I don't know. I do know that the Arrowhead and Rush that I transplanted from up the hill has come back and is thriving nicely. This method is more work, but I stand by it. It applies to all vegetation, not just pond plants. I can not begin to recommend plants for Florida, but do your research and check out Pond Megastore for your purchases... https://pondmegastore.com/My experience with them was very good. Great looking plants and shipping methods. I will warn you to do your research on tn*nurse@^ thoroughly if you think of buying from them. Do a search on their phone number (9*3*1 - 6*9*2 - 4*2*6*6) and just see how many websites they manage with different names. And, then, there are so many negative reviews. Note: I have muddied the companies info because, according to many of the on line reviews, they tend to harass any naysayers with legal threats. I'm still peeved about them and want to rant, but I won't bring your thread down any further.
Fish on!, Noel

Duck Potato produces beautiful flowers and was doing very well at my east Texas pond. Until the beaver ate it...
