peachgrower, you just brought back some fond memories when you mentioned Millwood. I spent many summer days with my grandfather crappie fishing that lake. That's where I learned how to fish. Very beautiful lake. Huge crappie.

We are very blessed in this area with our lakes. Glad it brought back some good memories.
Well the decision has been made. Meeting Rex Wednesday in Jacksonville to get a load of tilapia. Will be placing 30# in our pond. Starting over looks great on paper but can't swing that right now and would want it done right. Our bass that I have caught are all nice and fat. Going to try to manage it from this point. I have not read anything but positive about tilapia. Between them and raking off the top maybe we can get in front of the fa and take some psi off the bg. Looking coward to watching them atrack the algae. Will be trying to research ways to bind up some phosphorus also. Probably close to fall for that though.
Thanks for all the discussion. Thanks Pat for putting me onto tilapia and showing me other options. Thanks Rex for spending time to answer all my beginner questions...which were many!! Great bunch of folks here!
Will be documenting FA vs Tilapia on here through the summer. No other intervention is planned. Besides me raking from the top with the homemade rake. Hoping for plenty of pics.
Thanks again!!

Peachgrower, Won't your LMB eat the new Tilapia, or are you getting big ones?

Probably some. The way I understand it the breeding age tilapia are hard for bass to catch. The buffet really starts in the fall when temp drop and they get lathargic. But they are breeding age, hopefully they start breeding quickly. My we shall see.
