In have several ponds with breeding bass (largemouth, spotted and spotted female x largemouth male). First nest were evident by last Sunday and at least one spawn by midday Monday. Prolarvae are easy to pull up from nests although some getting big enough to be evasive. Several males are showing signs of spearing wounds from herons. One likely wounded before nesting but not all. Males sticking to their jobs which is cool to see.

I've had spearing issues with some of my LMB, too. Put up Scare Eye balloons to see if it will keep herons away. Holographic scare tape worked on cormorants, but not geese & herons.
