So far I haven't been able to get my BOW visibility below about 3 feet, despite fertilization & liming. Am trying to change this, but so far no luck.
Given that reality, would I be wasting my money stocking TFS? They need plankton, and right now I seemingly don't have a lot. Would I be smarter to see if I can first get a bloom, and only then stock TFS?

I see where you stocked shiners also. If I’m correct don’t shiners also feed on plankton?if so how are your shiners doing?

Haven't seen any shiners at all. My guess is they've either been eaten or starved.

Originally put in about 30 tons, 4 tons per acre. Added 19 tons last fall as pH had stayed around 5.5 to 6.2 and alkalinity/hardness were in low 40s.
Haven't measured pH or alkalinity this year, but visibility still around 36 inches after adding 40lb of pond fertilizer. Grr!

TShad need plankton but you do not have to have 18 in vis to have plankton. What are water temps?

Anthropic, you may consider adding some gypsum to the pond just like you did the lime. I added lime to my two acre pond and it did clear the water some and then I got a truck load of gypsum from overtons. This helped clear my water even better and now I only fertilize every now and again when it needs it. If I remember correctly the gypsum helps with the alkalinity/hardness in the water.
