grabbed some from a local pond before I knew what it was-it's now sitting in a bucket in my kitchen. It looked nice all mixed in with other vegetation but sounds like it's super invasive?
I'm just on the Oklahoma/TX border w/ a 9 month old 1 acre pond. Any reason to keep it or should I save myself a headache and throw it away?

I can not speak directly about pennywort, but I can say that you may have to decipher the web's opinion on many plants. "Evasive" plants to a gardener or landscaper can mean something totally different to a pond mister.

I have transplanted moneywort to my pond and the web says that it can be evasive, but most of those reviews were from people you can not contain it in a flower garden. I, on the other hand, want it to fill in around the shoreline and be kinda evasive in the sense that it grows and spread quickly to help with erosion. It will not be evasive in my situation (IMO) as it will want to live very close to the water and not spread up the bank where the dryer soil is not conducive to it's well being and it will not spread into the water to the point of crowding my emergent that I have established.

Bottom line is, try to determine what the web reviewer's goals are when deciding if the plant will be "evasive" for your situation.

I kill it with extreme prejudice. It's a very invasive plant, and can almost visually spread by the day. If you go by the recommended herbicide options, be sure and treat it as per the instructions. If your mix is too hot, it'll just burn the tops off, and not kill the roots. Popups several feet away can continue after the treated plant is long gone. I've had luck controlling it with both liquid and granular treatments.

Al what granular product have you had the best luck with? I am seeing it this year for the first time. I have some Navigate in the shed would that work?

Mark, I used Navigate. It's kind of expensive ($200 for 50#), but 50#'s will last a long time, and it's worked well for spot treating shoreline plants like penny wort and water leaf.
