I have caught perch with red fins on our lake north of Sudbury. Lake Onapping is well know for its walleye fishing. If we fish near beaver huts with the kids we pick up perch and small mouth bass. The perch have red fins up there and I just assumed it was to do with the water. We never see them grow big with all the predators in the lake.
Cheers Don.

Perch with orange-red fish have brightest colors in clear or stained water similar to other brighter colors on fish in the same water. Fish have drab hues with faded colors in silt turbid water.

Lake Onaping is man made, and very tea stained but very clear. I once seen a wet suit beer cooly on the bottom and thought I would dive down to grab it. It was allot deeper than I thought. I thought it was orange as well but when I did get it up it was actually red.

Change always creates stress, as well as losers and winners. The older we get, the harder it is to accommodate change.
