I fought otters at my old pond year after year which made it hard to manage like i wanted to. i always kept any female bg i caught and kept it bass heavy. kept the bg well fed with aquamax. i had a really big bluegill population and weighed one that was 1.5 lbs. i figure we caught several more that were the same size just didn't weigh them.

now my new pond is coming along about the same. the bg have been in for 3 years now. we caught one last week that was 1.5 lbs and it is common to catch them that look about the same size. i just got a new set of digital scales so we haven't been weighing them until now. these are fed aquamax and optimal. i had an otter here for a short time, he has been removed. i almost never catch a female bg.

i am ready to break the 2 lb class. do any of you all consistently catch 2 lb bg from your pond?i hope a few years from now i am back asking the same question, but asking about 3 lb's and not 2 lb's.

Quite a few of our clients have consistently broken that two-pound "gold standard" mark...and catch the fish.
They have several things in common:
1) Consistent feeding of high quality feed. They feed AquaMax Sportfish, mostly 500 and 600.
2) Most have multiple feedings per day (one doesn't, but they have superior habitat and many species of natural food, from grass shrimp to dragonfly larvae to Cladocera and small insects)
3) Each has largemouth bass, in crowded numbers. Several have feed-trained bass, others have crowded bass in the 10-14" class.
4) Several have water circulators, or aeration systems to keep the water moving. (I'm not sure that makes a difference, but those fish seem thicker and healthier).

Teach a man to grow fish...
He can teach to catch fish...
