Is that one of Darlene's girls or grandaughter? What else is coming up through the hole in the ice?

Do you auger an extra whole over Corona Reef for mid-Winter additions?

It was a good ice fishing season on Dwight's pond. Due to a very cold December, the normal start date was delayed a month. Had nice drivable ice when we were finally able to get out. We caught a lot of LMB. They ranged from a pound bigger than the one above, down to 12 inchers. As usual, they all looked healthy. Kept a couple dozen each of nice BG and BCR for the pan. Dwight drove his mule out to visit most every time we were there. All good!

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

No more updates from Bremer Pond for us this summer?

I am listening to the archived pondboss podcast where Bob Lusk interviews Dr. Dave Willis about northern ponds and the data collection of oxygen vs temperature in a high flowthrough gravel pond was discussed (similar to conditions at Richmond Mills pond) Dr. Dave was interested in further research on Bremer pond over time.

Any updates?

It was a five year project.

I lost interest in freezing my keister off every week no matter what the weather.

I was out on Dwight's pond yesterday for the first ice fishing trip of the season. Ice at about 7 inches. Clarity was lower than normal with visability at about 5 feet. That's good for me, usually it is ultra clear and the fish can see that you are up to no good half way across the pond. My brother-in-law got the first fish of the season (picture), and caught one the same size and hour or two later. We kept 7 nice BG for fish chowder, and released about a half a dozen more. I had a real large crappie up in the hole, but it was a kapon. (Had it for a while, but it kapon going!) Long time since I have posted, but I am always in the weeds, watching. I will ask Dwight to post that picture, I am almost computer illiterate.

Good to hear the report.

Although the only ice I want to see while fishing is in my drink, I've always followed this thread to see what the other half (the half that likes cold) lived like. grin

Have fun John.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
