I have an older pond that is usually 3 acres when full. Pretty shallow and silted in, I'd say around 4-5' average depth. It started leaking a couple years ago and with as dry as its been is now empty. Can anyone give me a ballpark idea on what I would be looking at to have it dug out to make it deeper, as well as fixing the leak issue?

Also, if anyone has any good contacts that do this kind of work around me please let me know.

Thanks!

It cost about $2,800 in Aug 2015 to dig the muck out of my 1/4 acre pond here in Arkansas. That's about 1/12 the size of your pond. Extrapolating, that would be about $33,600. YMMV.

FIgure $2.50 per yard of dirt removed. It should cost about $4100 per acre foot of depth you want.

Call Mike Otto , I did a 1 1/2 acre pond broke the dam and went to scooping out with a track hoe. spreading with a dozer. Turned into a money pit. I would suggest breaking the dam and waiting a year or two. if you have room to push your silt out the dam it will be a lot cheaper. That muck takes a long time to dry out
