Anybody have their Reconyx trail cam read "error no camera found"? I cannot even find this on the web and Reconyx is not open on the weekend. So much for hoping that a more expensive trail cam would be reliable... I should not have bought the 2nd one.

My older one is still going fine with no problems. The newer one is the problem. Yes, I tried removing batteries and even tried to update the software -it does not respond.

Sent me an email that it will need to be returned for service. I will need to send them some information first when I get home from work.

That is exactly my luck. The trail cam was just purchased in July, so it is under warranty and they sent me a prepaid shipping label. The real measure of a company is how they handle things when problems arise. So far, so good. We will ship it out tomorrow and I'll post when it comes back.

RAH, I went away from Stealth Cam when I had problems a few years ago with one. Took 12 weeks to fix (well, replace), the new one didn't work and it took ANOTHER 12 weeks to get that one fixed replaced. I sold it NIB. I've had good luck with Cuddeback.

I have a dead Cuddeback still sitting around. Hopefully Reconyx will respond quicker than Stealth Cam did for you.

I too have a stealth cam and brand new right out of the box it will not take pictures after the batteries get under 50 percent.... It's the dumbest things I have ever seen. So I can kinda use it... ugh. Anymore I just buy cheep stuff and use it for a year or 2 and replace... it's not worth the trouble paying all that money for these cameras and they don't work much longer then the cheep ones....as long as I can count points I'm good.

I think a lot of game cams are over priced junk. The cheaper ones that have no time delay setting between pics wind up taking a pic every few seconds when a bunch of hogs come to a feeder. In a week I can wind up with many hundreds of pics taken when one of the hogs wiggles it's tail.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Reconyx has a very good reputation. I'll reserve judgement until I see how they fix this issue. It was sent in yesterday prepaid by Reconyx. So far, I really cannot see what else they could do. Mechanical devices always have some vulnerabilities. They certainly have been more responsive than TenPoint when their crossbow scope would not hold point. I solved that by purchasing a Leopold scope and scraping the TenPoint scope. Makes me wish that I bought a different crossbow in the first place.

I got an email from Reconyx yesterday saying that they got the trail cam. It had a repair tracking link and it says that they were first troubleshooting the problem and then that it was ready for focus.

To me, it sounds like they have good communications with their customers that experience problems. That's a plus in my book. with that in mind I bet you have a good turn around on your camera. I hope u do, so I know what to expect. just in case I ever need to send mine in for repair.

FWIW, I had to send in a Reconyx cam last spring. It wouldn't power on. I'd had it 7 years, and pretty much had it in the field year round. It was long past any warranty. It cost me $30 to have it fixed. They communicated very well (via e-mail) about each step, and I could also log on to the website and track the repair. They ended up updating some other parts of the camera while it was in, just because they were using better materials in their current cameras. It came back working perfectly and has been in the field ever since. I own multiple brands of trail camera, but still feel Reconyx is a top notch cam and my favorite camera brand of all that I own.

Since I bought this camera this past July, I am hoping the warranty covers the repair.

Repair log says "The no camera found error was caused by a communication error on the main board. The main board was replaced to expedite repair." Looks like they care about keeping their customers happy.

Tried 3 other brands before Reconyx. Own 2 Reconyx now (6 yrs & 2 yrs). Run them year round on time lapse - tens of thousands of pics each year. Have had to service each camera once. Outstanding service each time. Complementary hardware upgrade on the older camera while it was in. Tech support is friendly & helpful. Nobody's production is 100% perfect. It sucked when they broke (all 4 brands). The difference is Reconyx does all they can to "make it right" when something goes wrong. The others were one frustration after another. Reconyx is worth the extra $$ to me.

My experience as well with the Reconyx service department. Well worth the extra cost based on performance and service. My repaired camera is working perfect again (like my older one). Now I just need it to attract those big bucks with it! This has been the slowest start to the deer archery season in many years for me (took a doe opening day last year). The aggressive (and legal) harvest of does is finally paying off. The quality of trophy bucks should follow. I think the coyotes are probably helping with the overall herd size as well. The herd is well below the carrying capacity of the habitat. I'd like to carry a much larger, but balanced, herd, but a couple of the neighboring properties are hunted by groups with different harvesting practices. I have gone through this cycle a couple times as harvests drop and hunters lose interest. I can then balance a bigger population. While my total land seems too small to matter, it is a large part of the permanent deer habitat, it is centrally located, and the deer are minimally harassed on my place. I think this has been why I can successfully manage the herd. Its about time for me to come up dry this year on a trophy buck. I have had a pretty long run of success and my standards keep going up. I also have a father/son project priority competing with tree time (which is great).

Took a big doe this afternoon with three big buttons in tow. Saw a nice big 8 last night that needs a year or two.
