I will be making my first fishing trip to Colorado in a few weeks. Any "must go" places within an hour or so of Boulder that you know of? Will be wading/fly fishing.

I've never got a line wet in Colorado.
Sorry for no input but good luck!!

Cache La Poudre along hwy 14 north of Fort Collins was always my go to for river fishing in the area. Another option would be the Big Thompson between Loveland and Estes Park.

Thanks Skullet. Rainbows, browns, cuts? Are they both easy to wade?

Browns and Rainbows in my experience. Easy to wade in the right spots and water is low this time of the year.

Sweet! I have both rb and brt already, would like to add a cut if I can, but the main goal is to enjoy the scenery, and my family that are going too. I appreciate the tip!

Skullet, Thank you so very much for the tips. We hit the Big Thompson and the river was beautiful. Saw lots of big fish, none of them jumped on my flies, but man, it was awesome any way. We fished boulder creek and some ponds in the Golden State park. Didn't get to Cache la Poudre this time, maybe next time. I did almost get a cutthroat. It was foul hooked, but I got it to hand. A bunch of small rb and one small brown. Not the best week of fishing as far as numbers or size that I've ever had, but a trip I will always remember.
