Here it is September and still haven't got a aeration system installed but I am going to do it. Since it is so late in the year, do you think I would be just as good or better to wait till spring, or go ahead and get it put in now? No real ice over events in my area, although I do remember breaking ice back in the 80s for the cattle to drink, so guess it could happen.

Hi BrianL! I'd recomend early spring before the water heats up and stratification occurs. It wouldn't hurt to install it in the fall. You don't freeze enough to warrant winter aeration in fear of fishkill, but it would be easier to de-ice with aeration if you do freeze for the cattle to drink.

Thanks Sue! I will hold off till spring. We had a very easy summer so far. Not too hot, enoungh rain that pond never got low, so I never got busy trying to get one installed. I'll put it on my spring list.
