My Friend Bo called and asked my opinion of fishing during the eclipse. Be lives on a very clear deep quarry pond outside of Louisville KY and intends to fish through the entire length of the eclipse. He and I speculated on what the twilight, then dark then dawn aspects of the event might bring. He indicates the surface activity of the quarry is very, very active today.

We are in the area of totality here. My dad said his pond had a bunch of surface activity. In fact he said it was crazy. He also said the quail started making a lot of noise.

well we fished the eclipse. i caught the lake record lmb. 19 &1/16" long. not too bad for a 2 year old.
the fishing didn't seem to be any different really. we don't fish the pond much though. i think we caught 11 bass between us in about an hour.

Well, Bo did pretty well fishing during the eclipse. He caught 12 to 15 fish during that time which is a better catch rate than he normally has. No big size, but most were from 2.5 to 3 pounds. Pretty good for that impoundment.
He fished wacky worms, throwing them up to bluffs and sheer drop offs.
They hit during the lure fall.

Nope, from a friends rooftop right on the centerline! We had seven cameras running and still had time to watch the whole thing!

It was cool, but as usual I thought the public pendulum swung way too far to the extreme. It was hyped up in the manner in which our society seems to require for everything these days. How did Axl sing it," I used to do a little then a little wouldn't do it, so the little got more and more?"
I miss non-sensationalism. But, I can say I saw the thing.
