This something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I will be spawning the bluegill or redear indoors starting on about a month. Once spawning gets under way a couple ponds will be filled. We will put nest in pond the morning they should swim from nest. I want to see if the fry can make weight needed to survive winter. We could even put fish out in October just for giggles. Plankton bloom should be awesome.

Fall spawns of BG are common in the south. Its also a good time to stock in the south. Up north its a very risky plan due to starvation. In the middle MO it will be interesting.

I have messed with Coppernose derived from St. John River stock where they spawned into middle September, a full month later than even late spawning northerns. Those late spawns were on top of previous spawn so I could not see how the late spawns performed. This round will be having only one cohort and can push it to being later than possible with even the Coppernose. These fish will be mostly Northern. Suspect forage abundance will not be a problem. The problem will be temperatures are too low to process what might be consumed.
