Well, My 8 plants came in from "xyz" yesterday. 4 weeks after the order was placed (not too bad). All 8 plants fit into a 6" cube box with half of that being air. 4 of them were mostly dried out while the other 4 were water logged to the point of resembling over-cooked celery. Without going into an unnecessary rant I will say that their terms and conditions are so well put together that once you commit to the order, you're not getting your money back. Buyer beware, there are much, much better places to buy plants from. The pondmegastore.com is the other place I ordered from and used as a comparison. Night and day difference. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the Pond Megastore plant because they was nothing to complain about. Just imagine 22 plants, nicely trimmed and individually wrapped with plenty of green life. All of which are doing well in the pond. Compare this image to these plants from "xyz"...
Common Spike Rush above.
The above is supposed to be Lizard Tail. Can anyone ID that for sure?
At any rate, if your are looking for a plant supplier, the pond mega store does very well and if you need to know who not to buy from just PM me and we can keep the direct negativity off the forum.
I have planted these fine specimens in pots to baby them along in case they are really "dormant". BUT I beg to ask the question...How can aquatic plant be dormant in the middle of the growing season? They were shipped form Tennessee.
Thanks RAH, I am interested in trading some Arrowhead (Duck Potato, Wapata) or Smartweed for some Lizard's Tail. I would gladly send someone some plants from my pond in return for the same efforts. I have excessive amounts of both and could fill a box up. Anyone interested, PM me.
After a bit of reading or more like google picturing. I really don't think my Lizard's Tail is Lizard's Tail. It more resembles iris or a reed type plant. Not that I have much hope of it de-dormanting, but we'll see. I may have some cat tail to dispose of.
I have noticed my established spike rush doesn't come back if I cut the top of it with the mower. I have to be very careful when running the mower around it. Surprised that they send it trimmed like that.
1.8 acre pond with CNBG, RES, HSB, and LMB Trophy Hunter feeder.
If you spend 5 minutes researching this company(which I should have done)you will find that most everyone is surprised to find what they send, or don't send. I'm not convinced it's even spike rush, kinda resembles regular ole' grass clumps.
