i have a 3 year old pond that is all most 5 acres.how big of a bass can i grow in this pond and on the average how many can i grow, also how many total bass could live in a pond this size.i was told the other day this pond could not grow but 100 bass, that is not that many fish.i was hoping on the average day we could catch 20-30 bass a day.i find this number hard to believe are maybe i'm dreaming of too big of a catch rate.thanks for the help.

As a taxidermist I just took in a close to 9 pound bass from a pond smaller than yours. And that's in northern Indiana. So you should be able to do at least as good in Louisianna. As far as carrying capacity you'll have to see what some of the more knowledgable contributors say. I was under the impression that 300 lbs. per acre of bass and prey fish is obtainable without aeration.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

fish - the amount of bass you will be able to grow in your 5 ac will be dependant on how you manage it. If you don't do much but stock fish and allow them to develop on their own then after 8 - 10 years, 100 adult bass (100 to 160 pounds)may not be too far off from what will be produced.
If you manage the pond, feed the fish (pellets or fertilize the water), control weeds, regulate the numbers and sizes of fish then you could get about 50 to 80 pounds of adult bass per acre (maybe 380 total pounds of bass in 5 ac).
You could fairly easily achieve your goal of catching 20 - 30 bass per day but they would be 10" to 14" long. The bigger you expect the average size to be, the harder it will be to achieve this catch rate.
