1st post, searched around but didn't find any specific answers. Trying to control lily pads (spatterdock I believe) and got some Navigate granular as I see it's recommended. They have instructions (and different application rates) for "floating and emergent weeds" and "submersed weeds". Lily pas are obviously floating but they say to use a "portable spreader" for small treatment areas. I thought the product works at the roots, if I use a spreader won't it just sit on top of the leaves? Should I use the emergent rate (21 lbs./acre)? Dr. Kailey, I think they're talking about one of the small chest spreaders. You can use those from shore, wading, or from a boat. I have a Solo chest spreader I use for granulars, and it works well. Always remember to wear a mask, googles,and gloves when you're applying any granular. It can get a tad dusty, and proper protection is a must.
I can't speak specifically about Spatterdock, but IIRC Lotus can take up to 200 lbs an acre for extreme cases. Post a pic or two if you can, and let's make sure it's splatterdock.

Thanks for the replies, but with a spreader wouldn't you just end up with product on top of the leaves?
