I believe that a pond can become BG overcrowded and they will stunt and not grow to full potential. from what I've read here, it isn't uncommon in the northern part of the US but uncommon in the south where LMB overcrowding is more common.

The gills range from 3inches up to 10+ and most of them are in the bigger class. They line up near the bank when they see me walking towards the waters edge.
