My new system is Kasco 1/2 hp with 3 diffusers. I built my own box to house the compressor and I feel I have PLENTY of ventilation and a fan that came with the system blowing on the pump also. While running I can shoot a laser thermometer at the 2 inch black center of the pump and it hits 160 degrees. It is about 120 on the silver ends of the pump. Thinking the pump was getting to hot I took my cover off that completely exposed the pump to the outside air. The same location read 140 degrees after running for 1 1/2 hours. Kasco says ambient temp should be no more than 104 degree 4 inches from the pump. I understand the difference between ambient and surface temp but down here in Texas how are we supposed to accomplish that in the middle of the summer while trying to run the pump possibly 24 hours a day? Is 160 degree surface temp too hot? Am I overthinking all this? Just don't want to damage or shorten the life of my new pump. Any advise or opinion greatly appreciated. Has anyone ever checked the temps of their pumps?

Flame, my Kasco system has two 1/2hp pumps. The box they came in has two 4" fans (not sure about the size of fans, they could be 3"). But I am aware it's pretty warm in that box or around the pumps. you might try adding another fan, it might help.

Do not judge me by the politicians in my City, State or Federal Government.
