I have a bunch drying along the banks that I need to pick up before it kills the grass. Anyone ever composted FA?

Yes, serves as excellent mulch, potting medium, and if still green the nitrogen and moisture will help jump start the composting process. If dried it still serves as an excellent source of carbon which is far easier to break down than newspaper, cardboard, etc. Algae is a miracle organism - can be processed into biofuel as well...lot's of organizations working on that project. https://www.energy.gov/eere/bioenergy/algal-biofuels

Ok, will be using it to mulch my tomatoes and okra. I had two wheelbarrow loads of FA, about 250 pounds after a day of drying. I think it really helped the pond to get it out of there.
Thanks!

I don't know a thing about composting, but just had to do a quick search/read and found a simple guide to composting FA... http://www.gardenguides.com/96546-compost-pond-algae.htmlIt seems like a lot of work, but that is what FA is all about, right?

Just layer nitrogen rich FA [if its green/moist] on carbon material [leaves, etc.] and allow it to decompose. Lasagna type layering is very simple composting method requiring minimal effort.
