My neighbor wanted me to post this and see if someone can identify what this might be "floating" on the top of his small pond. It almost looks like a layer of pollen or something. He says it's been there about 2 weeks. Wind or rain appears to knock it back some:

Cottonwood pollen? Pollen is really bad this year with all the trees.

Picture is way too distant of the problem. A close sharp picture may help but still not allow a positive identification.

I have seen pollen , plankton bloom and Duckweed all look like that from the pic quality.

If not pollen very possible it is watermeal. Dip your hand in the water and it will stick. Looks like small grainy seeds. More than likely some duckweed mixed in there as well.

Get good close pics. Quickly !!! If it is WM or DW you need to address it soon. Some species can double in size every 24 hours.
If you look at the link by Zep above and scroll down they have a pic of both DW and WM.
