Is there anyone on here that have emerald shiners in their pond other than us?
I was wondering if they have observed the mating balls? It is the most bazaar thing I have ever seen in my live at our pond. It happens at low light and night time so it is very difficult to video.
Its like a hug bait ball that is skimming the surface but not breaking the waters surface. I understand the eggs are laid and milt released all together and the bait ball mixes it all up.
We have seen this at the end of May and in the fall in September. It is quite the site.
Cheers Don.
