Hello all,
I've been reading this forum avidly for the last 2 weeks and I've finally decided to join, I've just had 2 ponds dug a small 2mtrX2mtr pond that is fed from a drainage ditch and a larger 20mtrX20mtr swimming pond, I had been researching organic swimming pools for a couple of months and decided to finally take the plunge. We've used puddled clay to seal it we finished yesterday and I'm waiting for it to fill now.... I just hope it will hold!
I'm attaching images if anyone is interested please feel free to comment!

Nice to have you here, I look forward to following your progress. Once it fills up the fun part starts with dressing them up with rocks and plants.

Welcome!

With that much clay, it will certainly hold water.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

@dave clay was one thing we had in abundance! I believe it's called Leitrim Daub, we pulled off 10 cm of topsoil 20 cm of sub soil and 2mtrs~ of clay then all the way down...
My worry is that it has quite a few small stones in it, the excavator told me that it will "firm up" over the next couple of days... We are looking to cover the edges in small coloured cobbles to create a beach area then plant the edge to increase water clarity.

Rocks in clay won't hurt unless they are so numerous that they stack up and allow the clay to be porous. Lots of rocky clay around here, and most of the clay ponds hold water.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! We shall see I'm slowly watching it fill now, and crossing my fingers. I'll post updates when I have them laugh
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to take a look.
Any recommendations?

Watershed area needed and how quickly it will likely fill depends on rainfall you receive.

That makes perfect sense, but I think it's fed from groundwater.
