I am newer to the site an new to ponds in general. I have a 4 acre pond. Deepest spots are 20 ft. There is about a 20-30 ft grass ring that goes around the pond. The grass was planted last Sept and is starting to come in good. In the spring there was a lot of runoff from the woods. The water is a tea color. I don't think this is suspended clay, but just the tea water from the woods. Will alum work on this? We have built a berm to hold back the runoff, and the grass is starting to establish. I would love to clear the pond up. Will alum help with this? Can someone ballpark what a good dose would be? Can I just get this from the local farm elevator?

To test it, put a couple of minnows in a bucket of the water. If they go belly up, you'll have to treat it. I doubt that you will have a problem.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
