New user and new to pond maintenance. I built a new house about 8 months ago and have an almost acre pond in my backyard. I'm not sure if the depth, but it drops off steeply at the shoreline and is over 5-6 feet deep about three feet from shore. It also seems to have a hard clay bottom and is about 5 years old. It is a rainwater retention pond from the few houses on my road. When we moved in last fall the surface was completely covered with duckweed. It went dormant during the winter. Early this spring at the first sign of any duckweed I applied flouridone to the water and have applied dye a couple of times. Now I'm seeing duckweed but not near as much as last fall. It is also very light colored, almost white. Last fall was a vibrant green. I have some diquat to spray if needed, but the duckweed looks dead or dying to me? Should I spray or wait?
