Anyone ever dealt with a submerged feeder? Not completely, but the lower section, with one or both motors is under. I'm guessing the feeder went off, at least once, with the feed throwing wheel, under water. I can assume it threw water all over the inside.
Can the electric motors be salvaged? If so, any recommendations on how?

The water level was at the bottom of the feeder when I was last at the pond, about a week ago. Since then we've had another 4" of rain. There is no doubt that water is up to the overflow pipe, and running out, and the lower 6-8" of the feeder is under.

Last week I had a chance to move the feeder up higher, but recent ankle surgery has me out of service. No weight bearing allowed on my right leg. I took a chance that I wouldn't get any more rain. Certainly lost that bet..

(This pic is before this last 4" of rain.)

Take a look at an old post of mine here:

Submerged Feeder

I didn't have to replace ANYTHING !!!! I could have just been lucky, but I was impressed.

Setter, whatever you do, DON'T throw the soaked feed into the pond. Could be toxic to the fish!

Great post. Thank you for the link! Hopefully I'll get by with just replacing motors. Mine is still upright I'm thinking all the electronics are still dry. I'll follow all the advice you were given.
Thanks again.
Jeff

Thx, I've fought leaks for a couple of years with this AquaPro. I've had to throw a fair amount of food away.
However, I finally got it sealed up tight. It survived the 8" of previous rain with the fish food bone dry.
Part of me just wants to go ahead and get a TH feeder, but not this year. The $$ aren't there. I need to start aeration instead.
Thanks for the advice.
Jeff

Had a total of 4.5" in the rain gauge. I had emptied it about 10 days ago. Lots of water has been going out thru the overflow pipe, but none made it to the emergency spillway.
Feeder had about the bottom 6" submerged. I walked it back out of the pond. Emptied it, the food was still dry. Gave it a test run. It appears that the lower motor that throws the food is fine. The upper motor, that sends the food down to the thrower is not running. It's not frozen, so I'll get it out and dry it. Hopefully will have it running by the time I leave Monday.

Last bit of follow up information. Got the feeder dried out over the weekend. Got it working perfectly yesterday! Plus, it's survived 21" of rain this growing season, and it's still working! Maybe this AquaPro feeder will work out after all. I've had more than a few problems with this feeder. This latest was obviously all my doing. After replacing the timer, and complete wiring harness and finally tracking down the last leak. (It was coming in the metal conduit for the wiring to the mini solar panel) I may even like this feeder.

SetterGuy, I'm laughing with you, not at you. I've had a few feeders take a dip myself. The worst was the time I had just filled one before a storm pulled the screws out of the deck, and it looked like a dead cow upside down in the pond. A dead cow filled with 75# of wet fish food.

Glad you got it going again.

Thanks guys. I was thinking it was going to be a lot worse than it turned out.
If my pond would just stay at one level, I wouldn't have to move it down, then get caught when the water comes back up..
I'd like to do a floating feeder, but I'd probably tip it over trying to put feed into it.
I'm pretty sure I'm turning down the feed rate. Go from 20 seconds a day to 10.
