I have about a 1/4 acre pond with an average depth of 8 feet. I stocked FHM and Brim earlier this year and the minnows are multiplying great and the Brim are doing fine. I have about 6" of visibility in the pond and want to clear up the water. I am looking for suggestions on how much aluminum sulfate and lime I need and if anyone knows a source in Baton Rouge, La market to get what I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Call around to your local Helena farm chemical supplier for aluminum sulfate and hydrated lime.

Look at the two "Alum kicks clays butt" threads and spend some time reading them. I would suggest doing a jar test to determine how much alum/hydrated lime you need. Every pond is different, so one cannot tell you "use "X" amount of pounds" from 1,000 miles away, but I would think you are looking at least in the 150-200 pounds of alum and 100 pounds of hydrated lime area, possibly more.

Do you have grass all around the pond so clay doesn't wash into the pond with every rain?
