Jodi and I saw a cow on our deer feeder pictures this winter. Have no idea where he came from. I guess our fences aren't as solid as I thought

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Contact the local sheriff office. In Texas, loose or stray cattle fall under their jurisdiction and the sheriff will come get the cows. On different occasions I had cows show up in the middle of my wildlife food plots and neither time were the cows from my bordering neighbors. Once was an older black man's cows and he was quick to come get them with my assistance. He told me Black men don't tag or brand their cows in E Texas, I did not now that. His cows have not been back on my place since. But I did have some other cows show up and after tracking them back to the owners through phone calls all around the area, an old woman and her old son was determined to be the owners of these cows and I approached this situation as any good or nice neighbor should. She may have had a tough day but I was glad she was not a bordering neighbor. I offered to help repair the fence but she and her son said no thanks and they came and gathered up the cows. A month or so later their cows showed back up and right back in the wildlife food plots. I went back to her place and told her about the cows destroying the food plots again and she said I was the reason she did not see deer on her place any more, because of the soy beans and peas I had planted. Their place is aa couple of miles away from my place. I then informed her, next time they showed up on my place I would contact the sheriff and they will come get the cows. The cows have not been back since and that was three years ago. Thank goodness she is not a bordering neighbor.

Thanks Tracy. The saga continued today. The dairy farmer that denied they were his cows called back and said unbeknownst to him his brother had allowed one of their workers to put 9 cows in a small pasture they don't normally use. BINGO! That's where the stray cows came from. He apologized. Late this afternoon all the cattle were rounded up and are now off my property. However I am not pleased because my flagstone guy said the cows got up near the log cabins and pooped all over the sidewalks and stomped on zoysia sod that was just planted last week. He said it's not horrible, but still. This newer neighbor has 900 acres surrounding most of my property, I don't wanna go to war, so I will not make a stink this time....but if it happens again I will follow your advice and call the sheriff. and I will see what it will take to fix the fence! This scene was caught on my front porch security cam this morning...look at those dang cows up in the front yard of my cabin today.

I'd call your best friend with a smoker. They look tasty!
Might also get a few nice belts out of the deal.

My grand dad always said there are 2 reasons to put a fence up. To keep your animals in and to keep others out. You should always call a sheriff because if you show a pattern of them being out then the owner will be liable for their damage, more so if you would hit them with a car at night.

Grandson and I built a 4 foot cube to cover my aeriation pump with. Put a white roof on it and insulated the top. It has dropped my pump temps 35-40 degrees in the heat of the day!!!! Boy was it hot and humid today!! Time for a huge glass of sweet tea!!

Flame, I'd love to see pictures. How did you design the sides and top and how did you insulate?
I'm really interested in making some structure for my aeration system but the Vertex people don't want me to cover it or I'll void the warranty. I have it in the shade but the metal cabinet takes a beating out in the elements.

Went to Overton's for a couple bags of food. We sure do enjoy the people there. They are always so helpful and friendly. I could talk to Shannon all day long.

Transplanted some more eelgrass in the new wetland/duck=pond. This time it is surrounded and covered with honey locust branches. The only thing that may get through are crayfish.

Pumping again. Pond drops 4 to 6 inches, it rains, creek has water for a day or two, then I pump the pond back up.

Kept my first SMB. I've been letting them go for the last year or so. My grandson caught a nice one yesterday, he was so excited, I decided to let him keep it. Having it for lunch today. My grandson was in the water for four or five hours. He'd sit in the boat for ten minutes, then just have to jump in.. Back at it again today.
9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep. RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these. I think that's about all I should put in my little pond. Otter attack in 2023

Isn't it amazing how a few fish out of a batch will be "shooters", and attain exceptional growth, while leaving the majority behind?

He was used to HBG and YP, the SMB was easily twice the fish, and 10 times the fight. He's seven. Kept yelling, "help me Pops!" Ha. He got it in by himself. YP from this morning. The pics of the SMB are on my wife's phone..

What fun! Almost as much fun seeing kids have fun as having fun myself. Not to mention a lot less tiring!

The water in the pond (8" depth) was 90 degrees today before the rain started. I increased my feeder times to 10 seconds twice daily about a week ago. The fish still manage to clean up the pellets in a couple of minutes. Caught a Lonestar Legacy LMB right as the rain was starting. She was 16" fat and thick. I hadn't hooked one in some time. Living up here sure gives me more opportunities to fish.
...when in doubt...set the hook...

We raked out more FA. It is now getting to the point of diminishing returns. Guess it might come back, but I think we are removing a lot of nutrients with it. The garden is mulched with it, and there is a big compost pile of it now too.
