As mentioned in another thread I am looking at building a pond in the next year or so and was curious on some thoughts about building a small forage pond next to the main pond. The main pond i was originally thinking 1.5-2acres but am not kicking around building a small forage pond next to the main pond to raise fatheads, crawfish, and whatever else. Pros and Cons to this and what is the minimum size/depth would it need to be? Thanks!

I have one, 1/4 to 1/3 acre depending on rain. I seine it yearly and move the BG's and GSF to the big pond. If I don't seine it, they will over spawn and the oxygen crash isn't far behind.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I was thinking to use it strickly for fatheads and not gills unless i really needed to raise more gills. Is it really worth it just to grow fatheads or would be better off feeding and buying fhm if they are needed?

Fatheads are cheap and dozers are expensive.
