Farmallsc, I could use some light rains if you have some to spare. I put out 100 pounds of grass seed around the pond and dam last weekend and my little well pump can't run but one sprinkler at a time. And, the pond needs three more feet to full pool, but I don't need any flooding! I hope it's not too bad down there.

How much did u get?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

After six inches in March, we have slipped back into a dry pattern where most of the storms miss us.

We have had a nice rain this morning. Not sure what rain if any last night. I planted 4 acres of wildlife food plots yesterday ( Eagle brand soybeans, iron clay peas and Sunhemp) just before this rain. I have more to plant this month.

Went to pond, it's chocolate. It generally takes about 3/4 days before they eat again. I threw a couple handfuls in case Catfish want something. Pond is way up now and hopefully be good this summer

2.1 inches at my pond near Hallsville, Texas. Time to pump some out of the main pond into the storage pond, which gets very little runoff. That way I can dump the storage pond water back into the main lake during a dry spell, along with the CNBG raised there.

My place is still down in rainfall amounts, it seams to split and go around. Hope pond will fill in the next 60 days. I lose around 1/8" per day. Looks like I got around an inch this morning.

I think we are in for more this weekend. I've got to get me another pair of rubber boots because I lost my tin can off my tractor exhaust and I used my rubber boot to keep rain out. I'm getting old and can't hop around on one leg very well.

Is that Redneck engineering or what?

Yep, he is. We were having such a good time, I forgot to drown him.

I thought my weather enter was wrong, but apparently not. It showed 3 3/4" last night, and 8 miles north of us got over 4", so I'll go with 3 3/4".

It rained hard and fast, let up and hit again. That went on most of the night and early this mornings

Rain just ended about 11:10 pm. We received 3.4 inches today. Old pond is at highest level in 16 months and new pond is brimming full. Both may be spilling over by daylight as runoff completes.

We were lucky and missed the really big stuff but still got about 3" overall over the last couple days. All ponds full and overflowing except the new RES pond and it is within about 18" of full pool for first time.

Not much rain here (30 mi north of Springfield, MO). There was a flash flood watch and lots of lightning, but the rain was a disappointment. My pond would have to come up about 5' to fill. Last year's BG spawning beds are mostly high and dry, so to speak.

Wow!

We were dry all winter, but that sounds like you have been exceptionally dry for your pond to be that low. That sucks! Very unusual for this part of the country.

You would be about two hours ENE of me.

I just walked out to the ponds at 7 AM. The CC and BG were surprisingly hungry in the old pond, even with the cool rain water entering. The old pond is only about 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the emergency spillway and the new pond is barely into the emergency spillway. The new pond spreads out a lot into the edges of the field in the last two vertical inches.

Photo of old pond this morning. Looks good full.

It's the biggest rain event since December 2015.

Wow John, I'm glad you finally got a big rain. I sure need it up at my place. We had some a few weeks ago (2 x 2" rains), It came up a few feet, but still needs to come up a few more. One of these days we will get it. It's been full twice in the last few years. But I lose at least 1/4" a day. Doesn't take long and it's down a foot or so. I'm thinking I just need to get used to seeing it down a foot or two. Won't be so depressing.

9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep.
RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these.
I think that's about all I should put in my little pond.

SetterGuy,
If you could get some grass going down to the edge of the water when the pond is low, it would look better. Maybe try annual rye. Mine looks bad when low only if it gets low enough to expose rocks and spawning structures. I try to keep grass going down into the water.
