Hello everyone, I was walking the edge of my pond yesterday and noticed a few tadpoles that looked as if they were struggling on the surface. I then went to the corner the wind was blowing in and found about a dozen large tadpoles dead on the surface, a few already had legs and were mostly transitioned to frogs.
Any idea what may have caused this? We did have a late hard freeze two nights in a row about a week ago. The coldest was 23' at my house which is about as cold as it gets all winter.

Sorry I should have said, no dead fish or minnows anywhere. Also the surface temp is about 69' but it is way colder 1 foot below.

Not a frog expert but I expect the tadpoles were hanging in shallow water when the freeze hit. The fish can search out different depths.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Well the count went up, there are probably closer to 75-100 dead tadpoles around the pond now. I have only seen 1 small fish that died. Yesterday I did see some tadpoles swimming around normally in the shallows.
