Hi all I'm working on an aeration plan. I have seen reference on here to this pump and find that eBay has several that seem budget friendly.
For those using this how is the noise level?
Thanks
Dave

I have one here that I have been messing with. It is loud enough that when I plug it up in the kitchen my wife yells at me....

With her and the pump in the kitchen lol.
I don't really have anything to compare to but I'm aerating down to 18 feet

Thanks

I have run these pumps for about five years now. I run mine 24/7 365 days a year and they will usually go 12 -24 months before I have to rebuild it. They are fairly quiet in my opinion. I have mine mounted in a vented enclosure and this seems to lessen the sound even more. If you get 25-30 feet from it, you can barely hear it, just a low hum sound. Hope this helps and not going anywhere near the wife comparison scenario...

Approximately how much does it cost to rebuild it?

That seems like a very short time between overhaul to me.

I agree with everything above. I do think too the over haul might be longer. I have been running ours for four years now with out an over haul. These are very economical pumps so much that I have a second that can go right in and rebuild the other so its ready to go in when or if needed.

Cheers Don.

If you are looking on eBay at rebuilt Thomas 2660 be notified that I have seen variable life spans on these pumps. A local guy had a used one's motor go bad in one year and some that are not run continuous have lasted now going on 4 years.

Thank you all for the information. I have been traveling with my son this week so I have continued my research. Bill C yes I am looking on eBay. I like most want a good system and a reputable pump but looking to save a few bucks. Vertex has such a great reputation I'm going with their diffusers but hope sourcing the pump and other parts I would end up with a great system and at a value. Again thanks for the warnings and other good info.
Thanks
Dave

When I said rebuild, I was talking about installing new piston cups, flappers, and gaskets (top end). It pretty simple and takes about 30 minutes to complete. You don't have to do anything with the electric motor besides clean it up a bit and blow the dust off it. The rebuild kit for these is approx. 20 bucks. If you need to replace the cylinders/sleeves you can get a complete kit for about 40 bucks. My pump is located near a gravel road and eats a lot of dust, so maybe others get a longer period between rebuilds? And like Don I have three of these pumps, so I always have one ready to go if the current one stops working.
