Happy to be a new member here. I have several small ponds and a larger one that's 19 acres. Each pond has it's own personality and populations of fish. Some are good crappie ponds, some are good bass ponds, and some are good for bluegill, some just don't have much of anything in them.
I hope to learn enough here to help each pond in it's own way and of course catch more/bigger fish.
First question; is there a "new posts" button? Something that will show all the posts that I haven't looked at yet and filter out the threads that I've already viewed.

I know your name. Are you the same guy I know from other forums? If so, you are the reason I found this place!

Yes sir. Great resource here. And don't be afraid to post those beautiful black crappies you've been growing in your ponds! Had to add the 2 to my name here because of an obsoleted email and not remembering my password.

Cool, good to see ya!
I need to catch some before I post pics. It's been slow for me this yr but to be honest I've hardly fished.
Do you have a thread over here with your pond and crappie adventures?
I joined another forum this week called "crappie.com". I think it's pretty good too and they even have a MN specific forum.

Hi catscratch - been really admiring your work on the habitat forums - especially the slab countertops.
IIRC you were the one with the video of a herd of bucks swimming after a hot doe in your lake?
someday I'd like to see some pics of the spillway of that lake. it must be really heavy duty.

Another name I recognize! Thanks Redonthehead!
The counter-tops are a cool project (that really needs finished before it gets nice out so that I'm not stuck in the basement).
Yes, the deer swimming video was from this lake. Very cool to be part of that. My wife filmed it. When I got home that night she said "I took a video that I want you to see". My jaw dropped when she showed me!
Everything about the lake is heavy duty. I'll try to remember to post some pics of the dam and spillway when I think of it. Fishing off of the cement overflow tube is one of my favorite ways to catch crappie. I intend to drop my first homemade structure under that tube...

Welcome to the forum catscratch from a fellow Kansan.
I'm in SE Ks. What general part of the state are you from, if I may ask?
That is a nice size lake you have.
I also like multiple ponds with different personalities. Usually if nothing is biting in one, a different one will.

About an hour south and a little east of Wichita... east of Winfield. Pond hopping is a blast. Always end up with a mixed bag and like you said, it they aren't biting in one they might be in another.

Welcome from Texas, you say you have nothing to offer... that's not true, it won't be long if you ask a lot of questions that you will be able to answer questions from others that don't know.... that's how this thing works as well as it does

Know right where Winfield is. Grew cotton for 3 years and it was delivered to the gin in Winfield.
