James,
I do stock at times. George helped me get my genetics right. I have stocked from Todd Overton for my CNBG and CLMB. I hand feed in the big pond. I have a lot of cover and my vis due to Phytoplankton is around 20 inches in the summer. If needed, I fertilize some, but not very often. I use the three (for now) brood ponds to enhance my forage and LMB numbers using high quality genetics. We remove around 200 14 inch or less LMB annually. Some times more. I have a removal policy for all species in the pond. LMB under 100% RW are gone. BCP are removed when caught ( they are the best tasting fish in our big pond). CC are pulled as needed (and I need to remove about 50 more this spring). I do stock Tilapia. In fact, I overwinter some in our big barn. Look for the thread on T4 if you want to see how we do that. The big pond is just over 10 acres.

I have found that if you know where you want your pond to go, there is a straight forward way to get there. The issues usually revolve around focus.

I have found that 80% of the way is easy. 90% takes some effort. 95% takes a lot of effort, and if you go for 96% and higher, you better be ready for a lot of efforts toward your goals.

If you want to see the place and how we do things, stop by. But be warned, I am usually working on some project or another.
