3 antlers Top left - my 9-point crossbow harvest: Upper right - 129"-net found rotting, casualty of 3 hunters on 14 acres wounding deer, never contacted by shooter: Lower center - 138"-net found dead of apparent natural causes, no tail and back elbow chewed to bone and tendons, non-hunter neighbor had seen earlier barely able to stand. I misjudged the 9-point or would have left him walk. Sorry that these did not make it to grow larger.

Thanks guys. This is the 2nd buck in the past 5 years that I've had to shoot because of an injury. Last one I thought was shot too, but I couldn't tell whether it was from a fight or someone shot it with an arrow with a field tip on it.

Nope, Savage ML-II (muzzleloader). It was a .50 caliber when I bought it, but I bought a barrel from Pac-Nor and rebarreled it to .45 caliber. Since the gun was designed to shoot smokeless powder (i.e. regular center fire rifle powder) I can shoot faster and flatter than a muzzleloader that uses regular BP or it's substitutes.

I'm shooting a .40 caliber Barnes 195 grain all copper bullet. Sighted dead on at 225 yards, it's 4" high at 100 yds and 8"-9" low at 300 yards. Muzzle velocity is 2850 fps with that bullet and H-4198 powder.

Don't try using that powder in a regular muzzleloader, it'll most likely blow up since they aren't built to take that amount of pressure.
