I am no expert. My understanding is that it is easier to survey in the spring because more fish are in the shallows getting ready for the spawn and enjoying the warmer water. I do remember Bob saying something about a minimum temp, but I don't remember the numbers.

It is best in spring or fall when water temps are good. To hot or cold makes it harder to get good info.

I found a guy that would do it for $500 with not written report.

I don't need a Report, I just want an idea of what predator fish are surviving and what condition. Also see how the forage base looks..

I figure If I can shock up another 6 or so koi and sell them on craigslist it would pay for its self.

any idea the actual water temps might be best.

Between 60-80 would probably be best. If your pond is shallow it won't matter what the temperature is.
