Hey everyone look at this bass for me. Dad did not get a weight on it but he did say it was 24 inches... Biggest bass caught on my pond... but it looks like I am getting the big head small body syndrome going? So would you 1. Taken this bass out of the pond or 2. Start to clean out more smaller 13 inch and under bass? It was otherwise healthy I wish they would have gotten a weight. Thanks, RC

I'd put it back, and cull other smaller fish as you suggest.
But you've got to look at the overall forage base.
I've found that pellet feeding to all sizes of fish in a pond is helpful.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Rc1,
One thing I have learned from tagging fish is not all underweight fish stay underweight. One fish I have caught 3 times started at 67%wr and has gained to just over 100%. And +1 on what Sunil said, feed and cull.
Looks like a fun fish to catch, even if thin. Another thought, could this be an older fish loosing weight at the end of its life span?

I think the camera angle affects the LMB picture, but there also seems to be a dip in the LMB's back. The fish seems to get small behind it. Injury maybe?

Thanks guys we did set it free and it swam off fine they said so I told her if she does catch anymore 12 inchers keep em!
Fire I did not notice that dip as you say so you may have something there. Almost looks like MR GBH may have gotten a piece of him in his younger days.... hmmmm
I don't think any of my bass are over 8 years old.... How old can bass live to? Isn't it like 15 or so if in the right environment...I can't remember...
