Good fishing. For a good opinion as to about what was going on with that spotted BG read and contemplate Bob Lusk's article "Sick Fish" in the current Sept-Oct PBoss magazine. This is a good insightful article. His discussion could very well apply to your pond.

I'm thinking since it is only one fish that it probably was simply one fish dressing up for Halloween.

At the time we were talking about all the chigger bites we got a few weeks ago filling feeders and getting ready for deer season. It looks like that BG got a little too close to the bank.

Looks possibly like a grub of some kind. Got any redears in there?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

IN a fish crowded small pond the condition will likely show up again.

Thanks Eric, I think you nailed it with the red sore disease. The fish seemed plenty healthy other that the spots. Dave, We did actually catch the first redear I've seen last weekend. I stocked 250 initially and 500 BG.
Thanks for the info!!

Did you show that bluegill the dirt nap?

I think I've caught 1 redear in the last 20 years.
