This past summer I put around 30 true wild caught Brook Trout in our lake. My buddy is up today checking on the place and said he clearly saw two Brook Trout spawning. Here is my question......

I know they need oxygenated water up welling through gravel to lay their eggs on. Let's say these two fish my buddy saw don't have that. Will those two trout go through with the spawn and just lay the eggs anyway in a spot where the eggs will eventually die?

I ask because the spot where he saw them going through the ritual has no up welling water or water flow at all THAT I KNOW OF.

Eggs if buried in the typical brookie spawning method will die with not enough oxygenation from upwelling.
