Hey guys,
I'm new around here, and new to pond construction/ownership in general. I've been recommended to this site by many people, but one thing I keep struggling with is figuring out all the acronyms y'all are using. I was thinking that maybe this thread could be dedicated to defining all the acronyms for us new guys. If this already exists on this site, could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I think I failed the test. Can I do extra credit? Lol. Yep! Your study guide is the archives. There is a LOT of information there. Many, many questions that are asked have been answered already, and the answer is there. I know the search engine here leaves a lot to be desired, so it's hard to find things. If someone would put the information in the archives into book form, I bet it could be a textbook for a college class or two. http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=22&page=1

I really like it when ewest or anyone else links to those old threads or brings them back up to the top by posting.
Hard to find the time to just dig through all of them, but when a new question is posted to an old thread on the subject, it brings it back up for everyone to enjoy.
That is kind of what I try to do with the RES links and the specialty pond thread I keep track of and update.

Thanks! By the way, it is not acronym. It's ACM.

Poppy, thanks for the clarification, I thought ACM was some ligament in the knee that football players are always tearin.

Thanks! I've been here for a few years and I still have trouble with all the acronyms and initials. I spent time in the US Navy during Viet Nam. My first real duty station's name was shortened and simplified for people like me to CINCPACFLTNAVSEGRUDET86. Somehow, my feeble brain still remembers it after over 40 years. I spent lots of time as a civilian supporting the military afterwards. When the Iranian Hostage Situation took place, I was a civilian in a meeting that included some fairly high ranking individuals. Several people around the table started spouting all kinds of acronyms and other indecipherable initials and phrases. There was a US Navy Admiral across the table from me. He slammed his fist as hard as he could on the conference table and screamed "Enough with this crap -- speak an English I can understand!" I've never forgotten that lesson. It only takes a couple of extra syllables, or a few extra keystrokes, to present something that everyone can understand. Thank you. Ken P.S. It is now time for me to check the feeders for my CC, RES, BG, HSB, HBG and LMB. Our BFC (Big Furry Cat) loves to help on the rounds.

My wife, Jodi, is a civilian who works for the USN and talks in acronyms all the time and is surprised I don't know what she's talking about. I worked as a DOD contractor for awhile and an ex-chief had the Navy book (yes, a hard-bound book) with the DOD acronyms in it. That is where I first learned the real meaning of FUBAR! hehe
