Yes we live on a lot of lava here but I have clay soil 12 feet deep. Anyone from Hawaii and have experience building a pond WITHOUT A LINER? I'm on the Big Island near Mountain View...

Laura, welcome to Pond Boss. If your soil is clay, you shouldn't have a problem. Are there any ponds in the area?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Glad you showed up Laura. Have you found an experienced pond builder that has proven success with clay soil ponds rather than liner ponds? Any ideas what size you are looking at?
