Looking to set up a small set up to raise some perch inside and pellet train them for about 7 months. Get them in April/May and put them in our pond in the fall Sept/Oct. Only 200 or so but you all know how 200 turns into more... tee he he.
I can get IBC totes and use them. Wondering what would be best. Looking at setting it up in my shop where I have radiant tube heat and natural gas for a water heater. Shop is 40X60 with 14 foot walls but looking at making a small area for this set up.
Would like to work on this project so it is ready for spring of 17.
Dono, a couple yrs ago Cecil presented a very detailed account with pics on how he constructed his RAS. I've seen his set up and he has All the Is dotted and Ts crossed. Either google Ras/ pond boss or e-mail Cecil. Google Baird taxidermy and get his phone # or e-mail add. Caution, he LIKES to talk so have a notepad and pen ready. Your project sounds fun. I would do that with Tilapia if I stayed in IN over the winter. Good luck.
Do nature a favor, spay/neuter your pets and any weird friends or relatives.
I've got a few IBC aquaponics tanks set up which is not what I think you want. But I'm in the middle of a project to make one into a tank. I don't have pictures of the setup yet, since it's in process. I'm basing the design in principle off of larger aquarium I have. I did a quick cad drawing to show my plan...
Like I said, this is in progress, but I can update once I get further. The barrels will hopefully add another 40 gallons or so of capacity to the system, so assuming the IBC has 200 gallons, I'm at close to 250 gallons of water. Personally, I wish I hadn't already cut the top off the IBC because I'd only cut a portion off so I had some protection in back for fish jumping out.
