Hi!! Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask...

I couple years ago when I was in 7th grade I found a bunch of bird or reptile egg scattered in a pond in the rouge river (MI), and if possible I'd like to know what it may have been.

The pond's about 200ft by 100ft and it had a 75ft x 10ft peninsula (wet and muddy). The water was about 1 ~ 2 ft deep around the peninsula but I couldn't tell/don't remember how deep it was beyond that. There were about 4~6 eggs scattered around the peninsula in the water. Maybe around 4ft apart from each other. They were white, 2 x 3 inches (not sure on this), and either elliptical, longitudinal, or oval (going off of this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_W23Gc66tuoA/S7SWkNYeZmI/AAAAAAAAAJY/enBtekGHue0/s1600/DSC04012.JPG).

Sorry I know this is really vague (this was 7+ years back) and impossible to tell without a picture but any ideas? I can't stop thinking about it for some reason. Was it some poor turtle's eggs that got pushed into the water by something?

As you say, it is impossible to say, but if the incident came after a heavy rain, the eggs may have been from a ground nesting duck nest that got flooded. Mallards often nest close to water.

Glutentag,
Welcome to the forum!! Great to see more MI people here. The rogue river is a beautiful river. I have good memories of canoeing it years ago as well.
