Leaves are changing colors and forecast is for 38 tonight. Looks like fall has arrived in Northern Illinois. Bloom on the pond is gone and visibility is now 3 feet+ and increasing. I always look forward to actually being able to see into the pond and spy on what's going on there. Time to get the fireplace going and spend some time enjoying the crisp air. My favorite time of year!

How about you?

Ice fishing, ice fishing, ice fishing..........is it time????? Is it???

Actually, I would love to do any type of fishing. Been remodeling for over a year now, haven't touched the ponds other than to feed. Now fall is here, the bite should be on, and I'm still not fishing.

But, we begin moving in tomorrow. I sense a crisp, beautiful fall morning may call to me in the very near future, and the elevator shop will likely find itself short one apprentice for a day.

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Hoodies around here this morning, and I'm loving it.

Fall means the water cools off, all the pond spraying stops for the year, and my fish start getting happy.

No hoodies here yet...well some will be wearing them. I'm still in short sleeves. I'm a truck mechanic, so I'm enjoying the cooler weather in the shop in my short sleeves!!lol MAN, I thought those 90's were NEVER going to go away!

Bill, curious...at about what avg air temp does your bloom normally leave? I know it has alot more to do with water temp...but was curious if you knew about what your avg air temps were when it left. Silly question probably but was wondering.
Thanks!

This year I think it was a combination of things that made the bloom drop off. Daytime temps in the low 70s and nights in the 40s coupled with several days of cloud cover.

Shorty, stop it already. Your posts are givin me the chills.
I was at Cody's place yesterday which is 50 miles exactly east of me. I left his place at 6:52 with 74 degrees and arrived home at 7:58 to 58 degrees and a stiff north wing.

It's gonna be 92 here today, new records being set all over the middle of IL today.

Most definitely does not feel like fall currently.

*maybe* 10 degrees cooler here. Record is 86, they don't think it will get that warm.

The warmer Lake Michigan is during the winter, the heavier the lake effect snow storms will be.....

Will likely break the record high here today in our area. Fished yesterday and it was upper 80s. Caught a decent number of LMB and some big crappie. Good thing because we have not hit the LMB harvest target for 2016 in our Big Lake.....I need as many decent weather weekends as I can get. The first couple weekends of the quail season (opens here Nov 5) is always a little warm so will likely be running the dogs early and fishing the rest of the day. We are at least 10 degrees above normal for this time of year if not 15. BM61.

Forecast is actually 100% chance of rain tomorrow with high of 48. Sure hope the fall rains are starting. We're about 5 feet below full pool. I actually do enjoy an occasional cloudy, dreary and rainy fall day when I can just kick back in front of a nice fire in the fireplace and read a book. That's the plan for tomorrow! Sure hope it rains heavy! smile
