Has anyone gotten a plan for a fishing rod rack? A rack that keeps the rods vertical not horizontal. Never had much luck with horizontal racks.

Cheers Don.

I've got mine attached horizontal on the garage door. I think you should log onto Pintrest. They have so many rod/reel storage it will blow your mind.

I bought several from Academy. Not fancy but they work.

I built a rod rack by cutting two circles from 3/4 inch plywood with my router, one 18", the other 12" across. I drilled holes in the centers and put a 1-1/2 inch dowel about four feet long between them. Screwed small plastic cups (like specimen cups) all around the bottom disc close to the outside edge to hold the rod butts. I put velcro loop all around the outside of the upper disc, and use pieces of velcro hook over the rods to hold them in place. It will hold about a dozen or so rods and reels in a near vertical position, slightly tilted toward the center of the holder.

If you can't a rack you like, you might take a look at Rod Sox. Very easy to just hang them from the tip.

Dono, if you have any open walls/exposed studs (garage, shed, etc.), I just used 1x4's to make my own. Works great and they're out of the way. Slotted holes in the top board to get them in and out, holes in the bottom to keep them in place.

Dang Keith, I haven't seen a croquet set in years.

I built rod racks out of PVC. It worked out OK but was pretty pricey. Then I bought some round ones on sale at Academy and tossed the PVC.
