Was wondering if I should put the vertex system in now while it is filling and place it exactly where I want it or should I wait until spring to drop it in?
if put in while filling will it get plugged up while things are settling? if I put it up off the bottom a foot or so sitting on concrete blocks plus the stand vertex provides will that keep it from getting covered with silt?
do you guys suggest 2 separate aerators, one shallow and one deep? pond is just under 3/4 acre and deepest part is 16 foot. large area is approximately 8 foot deep. 3 to 1 slope around most of pond except for the beach area. I read that shallow one is nice to have for winter if you want to open a hole for extended ice and snow cover. sorry for all the questions. just have no clue about this. thanks

Install the diffuser so it can easily be retrieved and cleaned. I usually don't recommend to operating the diffuser until the pond is full and starts to clear up. Running the aerator while silt is still suspended will take longer for the silt/clays to settle out. Pros and cons both ways; before and after filling.

I was planning on attaching a rope to diffuser stand and a duck decoy at other end. not going to run aerator until pond full and settled. just don't know if I am better off to just drop it down after full or put it in now and get it exactly on the spot wanted? I have done reading on this section of forum but hard to find info on when guys install their systems and the pros and cons. just thought some guys would share their personal experiences.

It is ok to drop it in later because your going to just drop it in place after when your going to clean them once every year or two.
If your thinking of getting the hoses the right length and laying in the right spot you can do it now.
Like Bill said above I can say first hand that it will take for ever to get the clays to settle out if run to early while filling.
This was my first year I have had a fish kill from low O2. Started with one or two then two a day. We had added some walleye and lost some. When they died in the pond and didn't float for a few days they created a bloom. Before I realized what was up we lost a few perch. Long story long in five years the bio mass in our pond got so large if we didn't have aeration we would have lost much more.
Cheers Don.
